Teenage Acne Treatment

Teen acne treatment has been a problem throughout the history of man. Teens suffering from acne are most likely also suffering from undue stress and the embarrassment and awkwardness that comes with growing up. Unfortunately, if there is additional stress that can exacerbate this situation, it is the teenager’s acne problem.

Even though acne is a problem on a day-to-day basis, it can cause damage to the skin for the long term. Many teens will scratch or squeeze acne causing permanent scarring. Fortunately, the good news is that young people today, do not have to suffer from acne. Many products on the market can kill bacteria causing pimples to shrink, bringing relief to the skin surfaces, ultimately allowing it to clear and heal.

What Causes Acne?

Acne generally begins in early adolescence. This is the result of an increase in oil production in the skin by the natural sebaceous glands. When normal cells from dead skin mix with oil, it causes blocking of the pores. There are two types of blemishes: blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads appear when clogging of the pores or hair follicles occurs near the skin surface and come into contact with air. A Whitehead occurs when normal dead skin and oil plug the pores or hair follicles.  In the worst kind of acne, known as cystic acne, which occurs when the wall of the follicle ruptures deep inside the skin causing cysts to be formed. All kinds of pimples or acne can be resolved by appropriate treatment.

Help for Young People in Controlling Acne

There are numerous reasons why young people seem unable to gain relief from acne. With busy lifestyles and their natural impatience, it is likely that young people have difficulty maintaining a consistent pattern of treatment of acne. Forgetfulness also plays an important role in keeping young people from taking their treatments for acne, in spite of the very personal benefits to their confidence and self-esteem. Consistency in teen acne treatment is essential.

Your teen will need help so remember to avoid letting them take things into their own hands. Permanent scarring can be caused by picking at or squeezing the blemishes. Continue to emphasize the importance of consistency so emphasize the importance of maintaining the routines. Consistency is the key – the right care in the treatment of teenage acne is critical to returning to healthy and clear skin. Remind your teen that they are not alone!  You need to understand that acne may cause emotional problems for your teen and may affect their social life. Let your child know that there is hope and they need to be consistent in cleansing and diet. Eventually, with good teenage acne treatments it will go away – leaving the skin fresh and clean when it is all over.
